Target - PUNCH Owl Card and instructions

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

I saw an adorable card from SmileyFace55 on Splitcoast the other day and just KNEW I needed to case it. Her card, HERE, caught my eye immediately with that cute owl mug that I spotted at Target. While I was picking up the mug, I noticed a CA-UTE little owl placecard holder, and for $1.99, which is like basically FREE, right? (I'm in trouble with my husband for even saying that!) lol...
Here is a picture of the punches I used, as well as the miscellaneous "parts". I used the smallest size circle nestabilities die for the white part of the owl eye. The other punches used include:

1. 1/2" SU circle punch (BLACK eyes)
2. Boho Blossoms (beak in banana from the 6 pointed star -- I took a straight edge and lined it up with a single part of the flower to cut the nose.
3. 1 3/8 inch SU circle punch (Regal Rose (after I had already punched the hearts) and Red body underneath the hearts layer.
4. Photo Corner punch - SU
5. Round Tab punch SU
6. Martha Stewart Heart Confetti punch (in the general area, not a Valentine exclusive!)

I was excited to have FINALLY found a use for my MS confetti heart punch! Punch the hearts out FIRST, then cut out the 1 3/8" circle around it for the tummy. Use the opposite color with the same size punch to go underneath.

Here is a picture of the owl assembled, next an unassembled version to see the punches used:
I altered the card that inspired me and made the little red owl a little pal. He looked lonely without a girlfriend! Here is the completed card with a gift set mug from Target.
Here is a close up of just the card... The sentiment is a "DUH- Tori" moment--- I thought it said "thanks, i OWL you one, maybe two"--- which made complete sense with this card. After it was completely made, I noticed it said OWE. The sentiment and hearts are from the level 3 hostess set "Goody Goody Gumdrops" and since it was already on there, I figured it looked cute and it was tacked down, so I went with it! "Hoo-Hoo"pe you have a great day!! :) (SCROLL DOWN TO SEE MY OTHER POST from today!)

This is absolutely adorable. Everything you make is so cute; I'm jealous! Now you have given me the bug to head to Target, only thing is, the closest one is an hour away. How long did it take you to make this card? I worked on one today for the Mojo Monday sketch and it took me forever. I'm so slow!
